H. Joseph Cardenas

President, Director of Project Development

Mr. Cardenas has been in the health care field since 1983 and began his clinical research career in 1992. His extensive experience includes: Certified Clinical Research Coordinator, Validated Single Site Acne Rater, Site Manager, Senior Clinical Research Associate, Director of Clinical Operations and Project Manager. He has conducted and/or managed more than 250 clinical research trials and has over 17 years of experience working with major companies in the industry of both pharmaceutical and contract research organizations. His leadership and ability to manage clinical trials was instrumental in successful conduct of drug development projects. His focus and experience is in Phase II – IV clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic areas. Mr. Cardenas is responsible for the daily management of clinical trials, as well as maintaining and continuing to build new relationships with community physicians, patients and sponsors. He assembles teams specific to your project’s needs to provide the attention it deserves. With nearly 17 years of research experience, and having worked on both the clinical and pharmaceutical side of research, he has developed a well-rounded approach to conducting clinical trials frequently exceeding industry demands. His scope of services include applied practices that achieve dependable, high integrity results.  He believes that maintaining a well-trained clinical staff in the areas of Human Subjects Protection, Research Ethics, CFR, ICH and GCP guidelines is pivotal for the successful completion of clinical trials.






Jeffrey Smyth, M.S.

Director Of Operations

Mr. Smyth has worked in the healthcare industry since 1985 when he began his career in Allied Health Sciences (radiography and ultrasonography).  He started management in healthcare organizations in 1997 and worked successfully for a large healthcare system in Alabama for twenty five years.  His leadership abilities were instrumental in creating and maintaining successful employee, patient and physician relationships and measures of satisfaction.  He holds a master's degree in healthcare management, is committed to providing quality care and outcome, he believes in communication and education are the keys to effectively managing an organization.  Spearheading the role of Director of Operation, Mr. Smyth's goals are to provide all sponsors, patients and employees of MOORE Clinical Research with the highest level of service and satisfaction.






Krunal M. Patel, M.D.

Board Certified Internal Medicine, Principal Investigator

Dr. Patel is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as Bariatric Medicine and has been in private practice since 2006. Dr. Patel began his research alliance with our team in 2007. He has been the principal investigator for approximately 12 studies in a variety of specialties. Dr. Patel has a large data base of patients, including diabetes, pain management, respiratory, geriatrics, dermatology, immunology, ED, and cardiovascular. One of his many beliefs is to uncover new knowledge that will lead to better health for our communities.






Susan M. Barker, M.D.

Board Certified Dermatologist, Principal Investigator

Dr. Susan Barker, a graduate of The University of South Florida, School of Medicine, is a Board Certified Dermatologist. Dr. Barker, with twelve years of experience as a clinical trialist, Her visionary leadership has resulted in the development of innovative initiatives to serve her patients, the clinical trial industry, and the wider Tampa Bay medical community. She works to establish new relationships with sponsors and physicians interested in research, mentors new investigators, and has been pivotal in the development and direction of success of single site large dermatological clinical trials, she also reviews and develops new protocol opportunities with CRO and Sponsors.






Steven R. Moore

Vice President, MCR, Inc., Director of Quality Assurance

Mr. Moore has been in the health care/research field for 30 years and has been a manager for a clinical laboratory of a major hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida for 25 years. He has extensive experience in audits, inspections, and overseeing research projects within the hospital setting and outpatient.
